2010 Collaborator - Final Decisions

Post by mrapple »

The collaborator 2010 is complete!

You can see the final layout here

The only thing left is to decide on the server settings. Right now, the proposed settings are:

Gameplay: FFA
Teams: 40 of each color
Max Shots: 5
Flags: 50 Random Good Flags

Please post suggestions/comments/concerns here.

NOTE: The final map will be posted in the map releases section and hosted at bzextreme.com.

As for the license, the map will be released under the GNU LGPL v. 3.

If you are not ok with releasing your submission under this license, then it will be removed and filled with a new submission.

F3 and F4 are outlaws Fortress, and D9, D10, E9, E10, F9 and F10 are my Aztec Temple.

Other than that, it all looks good.
Soon we will be facing bots that we can't beat...

I think that 50 flags is a little on the low end. This is 6 standard word sizes in one (standard size is 400x400, right?) Also, 40 tanks per team seems a little high maybe? But then again, with it spread out on huge map, maybe won't be so bad. But at any given time all teams could be full and 160 tanks roaming around and 120 to kill you (plus any teammates) kinda scares me. Just a few words of suggestion. Can't wait to play this!

Do you honestly think there will be 160 people on the map? That's more than every playing on every server combined. It would be a major feat to see 40 players on the map.

If you're gonna do 40 per team, just don't include a limit at all...

I don't really care what license we use, but why LGPL? That's more geared toward source code, not content material. The creative commons licenses have been widely used for content and are much more appropriate.

Some people mentioned that to me after I sent the giant PMs for licensing permissions. If it's really necessary, I can send out another PM. However, I think it would just be an annoyance then.

As for the players, maybe just max players 200? Also, it's not 160 with 40 per team, it's 200 (Observers).

I don't see why you're even bothering worry about a limit if you're thinking of at least 40 per team. There isn't that many people online at one time, much less on a single server.

No bad flags? I'd prefer them being there so that people are more grateful for the flag they got.
Some day you will go on BzFlag and see that every server on the list has a least 20 players on it.

I like the proposed server settings, however, is that going to be enough flags for the world size?
As well as if you are going to put the limit that high, don't pu a limit, there are never that many ppl playing on bz at once, let alone one map.
Can't wait to see this!!!!
