Jumping Skillz Impossible - Completed

Post by SkillDude »

From 21:26:14 GMT to 4:26:57 GMT (7 hours and 43 seconds!), krisfeidt tackled what may be the most challenging and brutal jumping obstacle course to date.

For those that do not know, Jumping Skillz was a mini-series of maps that started with a simple challenge to jump across boxes to a goal. Over time (3 and a half years), users have suggested various features to be integrated into the courses and this map has evolved into something that is interesting and challenging. From the beginner to the most precise jumping players, there are now 5 branches of difficulty for these maps, and recently krisfeidt completed the hardest one. Deemed "Impossible", this map used to be impossible until the version 2.91 update of the map in which krisfeidt was ready to become the first, and possibly only person to complete the Impossible map.

It was a very tough and bumpy trip, but we observed and watched as krisfeidt completed the level, floor by floor to the final base, and then touchdown with the blue flag in hand.

Just to give you an idea of the difficulty of the map, here are screenshots of some of the obstacles on the field, and how large in comparison to your tank these blocks are on the radar:

The next few screenshots are screenshots of krisfeidt's finest hour!

He has to do it again, oh the horror!

And again....

Boom! Impossible has been officially beat by krisfeidt! No one else has ever done so!

And that is that! Thank you krisfeidt for a great sight, and good work on your part! We supported you all the way through! It was a very exciting time for a day of BZFlag and we had great fun! :D

Jumping Skillz Impossible II skill level has been released. The screenshot thread for it is up for grabs, so if you dare try it, prepare to spend hours of terrorism and troubles, this is an extreme challenge, one that krisfeidt may try? I don't even know if he's ready!

If anyone ever finishes it, all fame, fortune, and glory to you!

Located exclusively at 66.76.118.56:9005 or just search for "Jumping".

Player named secret secret currently on one of the higher levels of Impossible II, stay tuned. He's entering his sixth hour soon.

I still can't imagine why do you do this. Btw, which input devices do you use?

The quality is set to "Experimental" and his radar is zoomed in a lot. It only shows your little tank direction on the radar, noone else's.

It would be useful if it showed you other people's directions. But any radar that shows that, my friend, is the radar of a cheat ;)

Thanks, that is a total confidence booster for me to continue making maps like these...

I think the next version will just have hard obstacles and not invisibility since you proved that that method does not add to the difficulty.

Actually, it probably does. He's using the "hidden line" feature (which most users don't know how to do) :P

So, how do we do this "Hidden Line" feature?

Actually, I don't know if we could actually call it a "feature", as the end-user (aka. player) isn't supposed to make use of it to enhance his or her gameplay. It's more of a debug tool (which should give you an idea on what to do) for developers or technically interested people.
