Joining a League

Post by Captain Simmons »

This is probably a really old topic, But I know very little about GU leagues, what they do, and how to join. (or if I should join) I somehow stumbled across the official GU site *I think* and tried to find out information, but I didn't really understand the big Idea behind it. Can someone please explain how they work, and how to join?

(sorry if this is an overused topic.)

Well, what makes GU League so different compared to other team-based Capture-The-Flag leagues are the community itself and the match modalities:
- two teams per match,
- jumping, [EDIT]I forgot that jumping is essential, thx for pointing out that "no jumping" is wrong, Bullet Catcher.[/EDIT]
- three bullets,
- no superflags,
- hard penalties for breaking the rules and
- a HIX-like map (search for "GU" or "HIX" in the servers' description to check out such a map).

All these information are available on the GU website (see: welcome, rules and faqs pages). You can find further details (find/open a team, etc.) when you read the forum topics (e.g. http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f ... oin+a+team )

Uh...pardon?...use the forum's search function, please.

Forum: Leagues
Wiki: Leagues

Ducati Style CTF BZFlag League
GamesUnited CTF BZFlag League
1vs1 BZFlag League
OpenLeague CTF BZFlag League
BzMatchBall League
BZFlag Xleague (atm, not a real league as far as I know)

Check the leagues' sites for further details (or this forum via integrated search *hint*).

register on guleague site http://www.guleague.org/ and visit the "Official GU servers" looking for fun matches, that is matches organized on the spot open to any member no matter if he/she is on a team. Either you will receive invites to join official teams once you make yourself known and looking or just ask for teams recruiting.

If anyone want to join the league (example GU League), here is how to:

Go to GU Site, http://www.guleague.org/Contact/
You are on "Contact", now click on following players to add you on spawn list (example: NTH, orbit, kierra...)
Send them GU Mail and write in it to you want to be added on spawn list.

You have to wait the answer, it can take time (few days).
