can't see server list

Post by unclelightning »

When I click find server the screen pops up with "searching". All it says is "searching" and it will not show servers. It was working earlier today, but for some odd reason it wont work now. I have changed nothing. Someone please help.

Thanks,
unclelightning

What version of BZFlag are you running? What operating system?

Can you get to the list manually in a web browser? http://my.bzflag.org/db/?action=LIST

I tried manually logging into a map by typing it into server and port from the list you showed me. I got on the map but had to use an unregistered callsign because it said it was a registered callsign i was trying to log in on.

Have you tried disabling your firewall to see if that's the problem?

Just for fun, try renaming your configuration file and see if it works after that.

Well try then all again... it is one of those things. I would suspect the firewall as the most likely candidate.

The firewall is off and the configuration file was changed to a different name. When i click server list it says "cannot connect to list server" now, in the chat box.

I just went and downloaded 2.0.14 and the server list works on it but not 2.4.

Does the Message Of The Day show up at the bottom of the chat panel when you start the game?

Did you set a filter on the list?

Hit '/' and use your backspace (till the filter is empty) and then hit 'enter' to clear it

I added a new account to my computer and downloaded bzflag there. It worked on that account but not on the one i had been using so it must just be the one download that is bad.

Nope, that wouldn't be the problem. The game does not install into your own user directory. Only the configuration file and cache is stored per-user. So the issue isn't your install of BZFlag, it's your configuration/cache.
