Re: how did u find bz?
few friends back in 10th grade were playing, so i watched, tried, got addicted. Shortly after that BZFlag was banned from my school as being "too violent." Since i only had dial-up, i could not play it at home. Then in '08 after graduating and being bored out of my mind i happened to remember the Flag. By then we git DSL. so i got it and got re-addicted

Re: how did u find bz?
I was exploring my Linux and i got hooked. When i switched to Mac OS X the first thing i did (after setting up of course) was get the latest BZFlag version. no other thoughts on what to do
Re: how did u find bz?
My friend's dad is a big Linux guy, and when I was over at my friend's house (when I was 7 or I played a few games of BZ with my friend. At some point I got the BZFlag disc and started playing on my dad's Windows ME. After that got destroyed (after 10 years of service) I waited for a year until getting an iMac, and I've been playing on it ever since.
Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who.
Re: how did u find bz?
Back when Apple still had an application download page on their site instead of the Mac App Store, I was looking at the game section and saw BZFlag. I was looking for a first person shooter game that wasn't like every other one and I read the description. It was technically a first person shooter game but with tanks. That seemed different to me. I looked at the screenshots and it looked simple so I gave it a try. I got addicted to it fairly quick.

Re: how did u find bz?
My friend (callsign: undead tanks) showed it to me a year ago.
Re: how did u find bz?
My brother (callsign: BwastEm) introduced me to the game. Since then it has consumed my life, ruined my relationships with freinds and family, and nearly gotten me fired (until the boss got addicted too). I have never forgiven my brother, and so I BZpwn him relentlessly at every opportunity.

The boss got addicted, that's always a plus

Re: how did u find bz?
I found bz though friends, later I found this similar game called specter and I found bz!
Re: how did u find bz?
It was several years ago, maybe in 2005 or prior. First callsign was Jimmie or Jimmie Johnson or some exceptional like that since I was a NASCAR dork back then (not in the redneck sort of way, but because I had an interest in fast cars long before I could actually legally drive, and I found out there was a sport involving them). But anyway, my older brother randomly showed it to me once and we both started learning it around the same time and both of us having been playing ever since on an on-and-off basis. I think he plays a bit more often but I've been slightly more involved in the community.

Re: how did u find bz?
I found BZFlag through a friend. (Sniper752) He and I played on it almost every time I went over to his house. I didn't actually download BZFlag on one of my computers until a year or two later. It took me a year or two more to register. And here I am, playing BZFlag somewhat frequently.

Some guy at my school would host a server, which all the school computer could find and therefor match each other!
We all thought it was amazing how the admin could give people flags. We all tried to be his best mate so he would give us good flags.
About a year later I figured out I could play it at home!
Now I'm past addicted, I'm superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-addicted.

Re: how did u find bz?
I found it through looking for information about the movie Tron and the games in it, especially the LightCycle game (long before the remake).
That pointed me to the Armegatron game, which is OpenSource and the OpenSource site at that time recommended BZFlag.
Many years ago.
Armegatron was pretty addicting, with a major adrenaline rush. Games were quick, over in a couple of minutes.
BZFlag was much more fun though, so that was the end of Armegatron for me.

Re: how did u find bz?
I think about 9 or 10 years ago i saw my cousin playing it at his house and then my brother downloaded it onto our old arse iMac (it was new back then) and i was hooked. Thinking back it's amazing how long ago the release of 2.0 actually was but anyway...
And a funny thing is I'm only just about 18 now which I think makes me unusual in terms of starting at a really young age (8) and still playing today, or is this the case for others too?

Re: how did u find bz?
A long time ago, we used Bzflags at work to test Nvidia drivers on newly installed Debian workstations. Really cool
