Some useful references:
Map editor and tool list (summary)
Prefab and BZW help threads index
Map releases index
Some of my BZFlag related stuff.
BZList.net Modern HTML5 server stats site.
BZFlag has a cycle every 1-3 years. Activity drops/stops and resumes some time after. It returns to 90% of what it was.
We see late in 2013, the following thread: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one time.
Let's say 2014 starts with 30 players:
With a cycle length of:
3 years: 2017=27 players, 2020=24 players...
2.5 years: mid-2016=27 players, 2019=24 players, mid-2021=22 players.
I think the cycles get shorter as time goes along, but the bigger issue is eventually that activity will not be able to sustain itself in the long run, as nobody waits an hour for people to show up.

Re: 101
It doesn't count on apocalypse. Too many bounties.
You can guide a fool to logic, but you cannot make him think.
Re: 101
It's not just apocalypse. Some maps are way more fast-paced than others, taking a much shorter amount of time to hit 101. As such using these screenshots as a marker and attempting to equal them in value or quality is a failed investment from the start.
It is also the only - but major - reason why I'm not too fond of that sum table that displays the amount of times 101 has been hit. It is misleading, albeit correct in actual content.
I've been contemplating setting up my own thread that either blacklists or whitelists eligible maps, as I want actual time and energy investment into a game session to have a meaningful representation.

To clarify a few matters.
Scores from the 101 EP thread are not logged within the 101 Score Summaries leaderboard.

So i'll post one here too, lol.
One from FFA - Castle Ruins - Tuxee [Europe]..
At the end most people left so it was really difficult to hit 101 with no opponents

Re: 101
That has happened to me multiple times already, and I was left hanging in the 80s or even 90s. It is quite frustrating when it happens, but not much one can do!
By the way, you are free to post the same score result in both threads, should it be eligible for both. This one in specific is.

Re: 101
If someone suggests a good way of jointly tracking scores, it probably will be done.
The real difficulty with getting 101 mostly anywhere is the lack of players.
Hopefully we'll see more players in the future and more 101's.

Re: 101
And...another one, from Purple Panzer's "QuickShot - First 2020 Map".
I hope I will not have to change my nick to r2d101
This definitely belongs here since there is a TP and a geno flag.
Again only one opponent left at the end, so the TP was a bit of a help
Stay safe, everyone!

I've been working on a real-time stats site called BZList, please check it out! It is still in active development, so some features are missing and watch out for bugs.
