Goodbye!

Post by Dr Thief »

All -

Just wanted to drop in and say I really and deeply appreciate the community here and all you've given me over the decades since I started playing - I didn't want to sign off for good without at least saying 'thanks'. So - thanks, and best of luck to you all. See you all in another life. <3

Doc,
Why??? This is sad news indeed.
Please say it isn't so....
Where will we find so compassionate a doc to administer shots so painlessly - and for free???
To say you made the game fun is an understatement - I was always happy to see you on.
You will be missed.

Best wishes in all you do and good health,
<3 k

I'm not great with goodbyes, but you made a good opponent and I'd miss the occasional humor. Certainly quitting bz is an option among many and it's common to reprioritize. It's also possible to play less. If it's something darker than that then get help instead of isolation. Unless isolation helps.

Mis'll miss ya too!

Maps always became greatly entertaining when you joined, injecting us with a healthy dose of humour to mask the pain of the kills we inevitably suffered soon after you opened surgery. I'll be raising a glass or two of my most special surgical spirit in your honour and wishing you plentiful scrips of happy pills in your future. ATB!

No this can't be true! Your a DR. you can fix anything. If the wife is that mad at you for playing give it a time, it worked for me! Will miss to fun and how you kept it light and made the game what it is. Best wishes and hope you stay the course towards your dreams!

I'll miss you Doc! You always brought out some of the best jokes and administered the best medicine. (Laughter cures it all!)

BZFlag is merely one road in the path of life, but I'm glad I got to see you on it. The journey is enjoyable with good company. I wish you the best of luck and good wishes for the journey ahead. Thank you for stopping by.

Some of my BZFlag related stuff.
BZList.net Modern HTML5 server stats site.

BZFlag has a cycle every 1-3 years. Activity drops/stops and resumes some time after. It returns to 90% of what it was.
We see late in 2013, the following thread: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one time.
Let's say 2014 starts with 30 players:
With a cycle length of:
3 years: 2017=27 players, 2020=24 players...
2.5 years: mid-2016=27 players, 2019=24 players, mid-2021=22 players.
I think the cycles get shorter as time goes along, but the bigger issue is eventually that activity will not be able to sustain itself in the long run, as nobody waits an hour for people to show up.

Sad to hear you have left.
The life is not meant to be changed disruptively and irreversibly especially when it comes to a lifestyle change that makes you less happy.

My best wishes and I'm looking forward to dodging from you soon!

Oh noes! I hope all is otherwise well with you, but it's still sad to see a friendly face fade away. You're always welcome back. We're standing here with open turrets, ready to kill you again and again and again, whenever you're ready. ;-)

Aw, Doctor!
You can't leave me alone with these gangsters.

Whatever your reason is - it was great fun to play with or against you. You're a good doctor - hopefully you come back to finish my treatment.

Well, safe travels, tanker.
Sometimes tanks are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in how they kill.
