Grassrootportals?

Post by sherman »

What happened? RC Cola doesn't know, and any of the regulars that I've asked on the other servers don't seem to know much either.

Does anyone know when/if the best BZFlag server is going to return, and if so, when?

Possibly what happened to it to cause it to go down? The most I've heard is that it crashed late one night. Here's hoping that someone just has to go in and restart the server.

I liked the place, the map was getting a bit old, but it was a good CTF game, when there weren't idiots on (which wasn't always happening, but you can't blame the server for that).

The reason I liked it was because it was one of the few servers without crazy settings that actually required some skill to play, rather than just spamming shots everywhere.

Hepcat is sort of like this too, but without any flags there's no variety. It's still fun for a quick pickup game though. Too bad it's going down on Nov. 1st. :(

Oh my god this makes me so happy. I just played three hours straight on it.

I liked green better than blue though, the blue doesn't have enough contrast at night, especially the shots on radar, it can become aggrivating for both sides, as you'll get TK'ed a lot.

Better than that damn spincentral one.

actually it's red vs. blue now .

..election day theme colors ;)

some peeple like it better , some don't . i think it'll only be temporary . depending on how many peeps like it .

(there were complaints that green tanks are camoflaged and hard to spot against the ground ... and some people say blue tanks/bullets are difficult to see in dark backgrounds)

Since I really only play ducati style ctf, the green tanks on the green floor bugged me (I play with the experimental quality setting in options). So, I made a grey floor texture and replaced the distributed green one. For those who are interested, go into you bzflag/data directory, rename the current or make a copy of the current std_ground.png file (for backup purposes) and copy the included file here to the same location.

(fyi: if you play with the low quality setting, this won't help you)

Cheers!

It's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says: Hey, can you give me a hand? You can say: Sorry, got these sacks.

I just connected and it said that the server version is 1.10.6. Since they changed the list server in 1.10.8, think that might be the problem?

both list server URLs are on the same computer now. 1.10.6 and 1.10.8 are basicly the same.

Yay. I love this server so much. This Pimpi, and Hepcat seem to be holding me hostage. I'll never get any work done.
