The link only leads to an image that says: Image hosted by tripod. In other words: bad link. chair looks cool in your avatar, though its too small to see well.
Looks like Gerbil needs a better hosting provider with less restrictions.. I've copied the images to another location so that it can be seen. Nice chair, Gerbil! .. You could probably get a permit for it in the U.S. .. you can get a permit for just about anything with enough money.
I really like the gun (is that a paintball gun?? ) pointing AT the person in the chair. I could use the plow to dig my cars out of the snow. I think the Death Star takes the cake, though.. puts it all to scale.
It is not a joke, I went to the newsstand down the street from me just today and saw it. It caught my eye, and I thought it was a joke too, but I realised that the entire stock had the same print, moreover, Gerbil is advertising it too. It's just that such a good idea is hard to come by in reality, but this time it is real.
Dude, I am confused now. You can play BZFlag on it? So it is a chair with a computer on it? and it has weapons/ But who does it kill, the guy IN the chair, or whoever you want to aim at?
According to the article, the weapons are military surplus plus one paint gun. It's a carl Gustav Recoiless Rifle and a Fifty caliber machine gun--both fitted with "blank catchers"--they shoot blank shots.
The computer is the bz interface and syncs al, the chair systems to the game--so the gun shoots when you shoot, etc.
The semtex charges under the seat are Czechoslovokian surplus bought (illegally I assume) by the Japanese guys who built the chair. They plan on playing a 1v1 game of CTF and the first player who has his flag captured will have the plastique under his chair detonate.
Apparently they are super rich, got ticked off at each other and this is how they plan to settle their argument--go figure Japanese.
The article said they are both obsessive players of BZFlag which is what started the argument in the first place. Supposedly the chairs are at a secret location as the Japanese police are trying to locate them and they allowed PM to see them because they wanted people to know that they created these. I guess they aare pretty high tech.
Politically correct BZ: A kinder, gentler Guided Missile.
Ok, how about this: I don't meAn to be an ass, but I have searched high and low online, and this would have to be big news. So someone give me a link on the popular mechanics website, and I am convinced.
