You must have been using a 15" before. :P I'm happy with my 21" CRT. I didn't know they made them in 23" with PC-like resolutions. Is that a CRT, LCD, LED, or plasma monitor?

btw, please move this thread to Chat, Jeff. thx

Hey badmove. :) It's nice and big. It can only do "1280 x 768 (WXGA)" though. :( I'd like to run my pixel res height a bit higher though if I had 23" to use. Otherwise, it's a nice monit... HDTV. ;)

it's one of the Dell TV combo monitors. It's not the best on resoultion, since it's basicly a TV that can show computer stuff. that's what it's optimised for. Generaly it's targeted at those who have no room for a TV and a computer. You'll get better res out of a 19inch or larger CRT.

for a large computer display you want the 2405FPW

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... nk_number=

1920x1200 pure DVI goodness.
This is the display I will be geting soon.

I have an old 21" CRT... "Cornerstone p1500". Paid $99 for it used. :D

I got a TV tuner so it doubles as a TV...

23" must be insane.

Ditto. :) Gotta love CRTs if you have the space to keep them. They still have a better refresh rate and color accuracy compared to LCDs if you keep them calibrated. Still, I wouldn't mind picking up a new wide-screen 21" LCD. ;)

Mine is a Radius PressView 21 SR that I got for free because I worked for that company. Its housing is all 50% gray in color to avoid disturbing fine color-adjustment in studio work. It came with a white point calibrator (suction cup device you attach to your screen) to get a very accurate color balance. Needless to say, it's a professional monitor.

Unfortunately the software and connection for the calibrator exist only for the Mac... stupid AppleBus proprietary crapola.

I'm just glad I worked for the right company at the right time to get it free (they gave away about 2 pallets of them to employees in 1999). My friend who worked there wanted two of them, so they gave him one working unit and one that needed repair. Apparently most of the chips inside are not soldered to the boards -- they're plugged into a socket, and the socket is soldered into the boards. If a chip fails (like the color correction chips that have the shortest life span of all other components inside), you just pull out the bad one and replace it.

My friend fixed his 2nd monitor and sold it for a few hundred dollars or so a year later.

Radius changed their name to "Digital Origin", and were later bought by "Media 100". My monitor is probably 8 years old, but it's still operating like new.

or if you don't mind putting up with the heat the put out.

However, I have seen some LCD screens that have a very nice output, contrast, and sharpness. I'm all for LCDs

Yes, I would love to have a huge LCD simply because they're oh so sexy, lol. The technology is getting better at a rapid pace -- they're almost comparable to CRT specs on color and refresh rates, and certainly surpass them in other areas.

...compared to the big, clunky 90's look of a CRT, the thin and sleek look of LCDs is sexy. :) Or at least that's what I've been told and tend to agree with so far. hehehe

I got a digital projector! I mainly use it to watch Monday night wrestling and DVD's on. I got a sheet I got ready to hand from the ceiling, and the projectors is one I can hook most anything to, from DVD, video game consols, and even an outlet for a computer monitor. I did hook my laptop up to it when I first got it and it worked. Now I want to hook up my PC to it and play BZ Flag on a screen the size of a movie screen.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna make a mess doing this.

I'm gonna see if I can't make that happen. It won't be today or tomorrow... I'll have to obtain a camera... But I got an idea of me in front my screen, with the game being projected on the screen and me... pic of my server, with me logged in... crosses in the background...

I'll even flip you guys off!
