I have tried every suggestion on changing tank colors but none of them work. I've been using:
set redradar .50 .50 .50 or such. I've tried quotes and different number sequences, what am I missing. I just want to turn the red tanks to a lighter color. Any help here would be appreciated

The line I use to change the blue radar colour is:

set blueradar "0 0.2 1"

So you will want something like:

set redradar "0.8 0 0"

Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply, but I still can't get the colors to change. I'll fool around with it tomorrow some more. If anybody has any further suggestions, I can use them.

First when you open the config file your Bzflag client has to be closed for the changes to take place.

I'm using XP home with the 2.0.2 version. I have closed the program and made sure the changes "saved", but still no luck.

Have you played in the options menu? Under display settings there are settings that may help like brightness. I am not color blind but I do have other vision problems and messing with these helped me a little. I have suggested that maybe a future client could include a contrast and maybe other more precise controls for those of us that love playing BZFLAG but do have visual limits. Thank you. Hope this helps.

Is the difficulty in viewing the tanks on screen or in the radar?
(I'm assuming radar simply due to it's size).

Ah, "Color blind" as in real life...

Not, color blind as in the game......

Now, I understand!

I've never heard of this type of problem in games...
(Wow! I wish BZFlag was more like mac now!)

Ok, make sure you don't have a # before set!

*edit*
I don't see a redradar in my config file...???

There wont be one in there to start, i don't think.
I think if there is not on there, it uses a default color...

Yeah, this is about colorblind eyes, never occurred to me to specify. I've put the settings in the config.cfg file for the new bz release but no luck. I just looked at the file and the settings have been deleted so I did something wrong. I used the settings in the old version in the .bzc file and it worked. I can't see red tanks in the radar hardly at all, they just blend into the background. On the main screen I certainly have more difficulty seeing them but not as bad as on radar. Thanks for all the suggestions, but I'm still lost.

Okay, I just tried again and it deleted my changes after I started and stopped the game. I'm obviously doing something it doesn't like.

I tested this it will turn red to white instead on your radar. I checked several maps and red will show up on radar as white. "set redradar 0.800" of course without the quotes and make sure you save it first. hope this helps.

Thanks kc9foh, that did the trick. It must have been something about the format of the numbers. Now I can play and spend time later learning how to get the numbers right.
