Nice but it would look better if you just made boxes and stuff with the lego style bumps ir whatever coming out of them instead of putting textures..

This is true. With the raised bumps for the Legos the poly count on the map would skyrocket and framerate would drop. I tried my best to make a map that is playable, yet somewhat interesting to look at. So far, my framerate has been excellent - I hope the same is true for all that play it.

You would also get stuck on all the bumps... :P

Nice one LouMan. ;)

It dosen't even look 3D! (I mean that in a good way) Reminds me of those kiddy cartoons in my old LEGO Mania magazines...

I like the teleporters!

I have a few questions 8)
I've been running your TimeTrials map for quite a while now but this one really has me interested.

1) Would you mind if I ran this map on my server?
2) Would you mind a change to something like a 2v2 or 3v3 CTF version?
3) Is the total number of downloaded textures very big? Is it going to be playable for the slower inet connections to cope with all the trepan.com downloads?
4) Would you pretty please make the two bases on the outermost two checkered raised squares? :) If not I can do it :lol-old:

And thanks for your time

LouMan:
I played the map today, it's great, however:
The textures won't download for me. It says Operation_TimedOut.
(I have DownLoadAccess.txt set to "allow *") :(

spldart,

1) No, I wouldn't mind! Please do!
2) I will work on the CTF version over the next day or two and post it here.
3) The total # of textures is numerous, but they are generally less than 2k each. The total download is something like 80 kb. Slower internet connections should be ok, I think.
4) What colors do you want the teams to be, if 2v2? (2v2 would be better than 3v3 I think). I will create a base structure for them.

Thanks!

Yes. :)
That's still pretty odd, though. :(

YAY! :D

Sounds very practical. 8)

4) What colors do you want the teams to be, if 2v2? (2v2 would be better than 3v3 I think). I will create a base structure for them.

I can confortably host 6 active players and 2 observers... And 2v2 seems kinda lonely :( You really think 2v2 would be better than 3v3?
Oh.. And I 'was' thinking Hepcat being my favorite CTF so far.... Red and Green... But I'm thinking now that as colorful as this map is... Blue and Purple :)

Thanks!

You Welcome :lol-old:

BTW, PS and all that...
I'm probably going to ditch GM flag. It's to dominate with the upper area's I think.

PPS... Anyone else who has tried out LouMan's test server and has any advice if I host it as a CTF please give me input.. This would be my first CTF public served beside my test of my airhockey table map.

PPPS
I was talking to some guys on #bzflag and one thought that the TimeTrials track looked like it was a LeMans in Japan and there should be a giant Godzilla in there :o :lol-old:

Not a request ... Just a funny

LegoLand CTF

Post by LouMan »

spldart,

Here is a 3v3 purple vs. blue CTF of the map with the bases on the north/south checkered boxes, per request. I also set GM shot limit to 15, if that helps.

If you need any more help, just let me know.

Thanks again! :)
