Forest v. 1.1!

Post by Toastline »

Here's Forest, version 1! There are trees and stuff, for people to wander and battle amongst. In fact, that's all there is. But they're randomly placed, and I rather like the flag settings. Some areas are quite densely packed with trees, but some sections are more open. SW is big with 1 shot, laser lasts a while with 2 shots, Thief gets 50 shots but lots of range.

Anyone is free to host it,(in fact, I'd probably be honored!) but notify me (with a PM or in this thread) within 24 hours of starting to do so, before or after you do it.

Coming in version 2:
Trees of differing heights
Crystals (or one crystal-help me decide!) that light(s) up (via world weapon) when someone spawns, in the colour of the spawner
Any other suggestions that seem good

This seems to be one of the maps that "screenies," don't give you a great idea of. I think it's a lot better when you're playing it.

UPDATE!:Well, thanks to some cool people, I have what I hope is a better version. Since when I test out the level, the settings in the menu override the document's, I can't be totally certain that all is as it should be. Not until 1.1 gets hosted anyway. Then when I go in, I can see for myself, and fix any problems.

Okay, so there isn't a way to do it without it being hosted. I'll just use "my" (in that I use it, I don't own it) server to host it.

I had a map idea for that! Heh, I need to start doing everything quicker. Nice map, though. :)

Thank you kindly!
I don't suppose you'd be interested in hosting it?

If you have a pic there are several ways... One of the ways is to attatch it and then [img] it...

The only problem is you have to download and hash the link.
(hash? is that right? or is it hack?)

Or you could just attatch it.

If I'm not mistaken, the image is already in my first post. :)

So... anyone want to host it? :p

ahh i remember a map similar to that back before 2.0. can barely see, lasers last a very long time on the field(impossible to not teamkill sadly), and a team full of simple bots to destroy. the scores on that server were hilarious. anywhere between 2000-10000 for the humans and for the zombies(bots) -20000. good times. good times. i admit that it took no skill on that server but it was fun. back to the main point, yeah that map looks fun to play on

How about a screeny in observer mode hovering well above the map looking straight down?
It sounds interesting 8)

A screeny above the map wouldn't look very good, methinks. All you'd see is the tops of the trees, and bits of the ground below. If you want, I'll do it, though.

Why are you against hosting? In fact, if you go to the imageshack.us website, you will notice that you don't have to register at all! You just push a button, upload your picture, and copy the link or URL! You don't have to register, give your email, or anything!

I'm gonna host this map!

Hey toastline, why not use the mapatorium? http://www.garrettsites.net/bzmaps/index.php

Yay! Thank you very much! : )

server settings I can't set in the bzw: free for all, 20 shots, ricochet, jumping, good flags only, 40 max flags. Other settings are the choice of the hoster.

As for the mapatorium, I've just registered, but when I log in it says "try another password"...!?"

I'm not sure why I don't like imageshack and those places... Most likely because I hae a big honkin' server (which KILLS my ping), so why not put it to use?

Those settings can all be put into the options section in the map.

Well, I need to know max players, max shots, max flags, what kinds of flags, ricochet, jumping, handicap, and style. I can't figure out what to type to set those.

Thanks. That's exactly what I couldn't find.

Spazzy! When can I expect to see my level hosted? I have yet to, so I'm just curious.

You asked for a screen shot, you got it.

As you can see it is a bunch of trees.
