Getting started ('elp me!)

Post by Pirate »

Hi,
How do I get to the place to start making my BZflag map thingy. I did read the sticky so don't tell me off for that. (Though it might have been mentioned in there!)

You could use BZEdit for a standard map with Boxes and Pyramids. You'll find it on the "BZEdit and BZMapper" forum. Get 1.6.5. For a map with advanced objects - you'll first need a 3D modeller.

Confused

Post by Pirate »

I'm still really confused, I looked on that, I read the sticky, then I clicked on the link, but it didn't seem to mean anything, could you just write out the webstie to go to (if there is one!) or whatever it is to start making a map?

Are you having a problem downloading BZEdit? If so here's the link:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bzfl ... e?download. Download and run the program(if you're in Windows). Then you can run BZEdit and start making maps.

Oh! No wonder you can't use it. Have you tried BZFed? I think that it's a Linux BZEdit - I've never used it, all my maps being built in Windows and I rarely use BZEdit anyway. But it might work for you. Do you have a Windows?

Try setting the donwload location to /home/yourname/. You have permission in that folder. I've used Linux and know how pesky it *sometimes* is.

In that case :) . Yes, you'll have to download BZFed. Sorry about my mistake about permissions. I'm glad to hear that you ask first. I mean that - it's really nice to hear. Keep it up.

In the file manager, and in the folder that you put the map editor you should see a picture of gears - that symbolises a program.
