OBJ format work?

Post by capt_crunch »

One of the formats for the tree is OBJ; does that work for Wings3D?

The model is about 8.2 MB uncompressed, which is way bigger than I had expected. Perhaps it's too complex for the map without modification.

Yea to complex. To big of a file for the server. I am going to make a couple of trees in wings. Though I need textures like for the leaves and stuff. Does anyone know where i could get textures? I am also going to make the bzedit map. You gyes can send me a file of those stuff that you made in wings so I can like size it up so I know what i am doing. For example send me the: mushrooms, trees, bushes, ground (by: BIYA), and other stuff that you made so I can do the bzedit file to scale. Then BIYA I am going to send you all of the stuff to you (including the bzedit file and all of the objects) and you will convert it into a .bzw map. I hope everyone agrees that is a good idea.

The tree model I posted above includes a jpg file with textures for the bark and leaves. I know nothing about modeling, so I don't know if this would work for you or not.

Thanks very much, Red Cobra!

this is just a ground cover pic tell me if you like it

these pic's are saved as .png so some people (like mac's)
will not be able to see them

I saved them as .png becuase that is the prominent texture extension in bzflag if you want the jpeg version of the images please email me at

The bark and the grass look very nice.. but the ravine possible texture needs more work..

Okay, you all took longer then I thought so I'm gonna spark some ideas into ya'lls heads!

I sat at my desk thinking about how to make a tree then boom.. You make a trunk, alter it alittle bit to give it alittle realistic look. Make about 3 different types of branches (if its a short tree just make one) then duplicate the braches and put them around the tree... bigger branches at the bottom and little ones at the top :)... Now was'nt that a idea sparker or what?
