My server hates me and im completely lost on what to do

Post by slugkilla »

Hey everybody,
After I had been using 2.0.4 for a little bit, I had to shut my server down for a few days. When I started my server back up bzfs gave me an error.
Here it is

CURLOPT_URL is : http://my.BZFlag.org/db/
Queuing ADD message to list server
File transfer terminated with error from libcurl 28 : Operation timed out with 0 out of -1 bytes received

I don't know if this is a 2.0.4 bug or if it is something i did.
Please help me out
Yeah, you're right. That error there is what was descripbed to me as a "Server hate Notification" - you server has a grudge against you, be it for your skin color, religious beliefs, or nationality.

Try changing your ethnicity, or moving somewhere else in the world. If all else fails, change churches.

OK, I wasn't serious.

Looks like your connection to the internet timed out. Make sure the machine you are on is connected to the internet, as well as make sure the proper ports are forwarded to your local machine.

Try again.

That, and make super sure that you have libcurl installed.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a router that feeds(or whatever you call it) two computers. The computer that is also connected to the router is running windows with a freshly installed copy on Norton anti-virus. Could this evil Norton thing be blocking the out going stuff from my Linux computer and preventing my server from running. And can ports unforward themselves?
Thanks
Also I found this on my router websettings thingy. But it does not have the underscores. The
ip is my pc's ip; I don't know if this has anything to do with it.
# ___Enable __Service Name___Start Port____ End Port_Server IP Address
