Idea for new flag

My idea for new flag is based on something like a mine field.
After picking up the flag you could leave up to a certain amount of invisible land mines.
Your team, if CTF, would not be effected. You could have delay after
running over it, so you could get a last shot off before you explode.
If you dropped a shot in air the mine bomb would explode when it the ground. Lets say you are jumping over two walls and an opponent
is between them, on ground, you would "drop" the bomb on them.
I suppose you could have "land mine sweeper" flag that allowed you
to see the land mine and disarm it if you ran over it.

Just a thought.

Ahhh I have an idea for this improvement:

Does everyone know how when you pick up a bad flag, the antidote is in yellow. Well what we could do is, on CTF maps is have the flag (the mine flag) and instead of shooting, for 5 pulses you can drop 5 "mine flags". Then of course everyone on that team would know where the bad flags are because they are in yeller.

So the flags, if the enemy picked them up, would blow them to tiny tiny peices correct?

I like that idea, but at first I though you mean actualy dropping 'mines'

this is a very insidous idea...i like it....might be alot of coding
though to make it so just your team see's those..till thier gone...

explode? or would it drop right back onto the map...then the
other side could do the same? i see a minefield nightmare
in our future if it drops back down right away...

agreed. have the flag disspear and not respawn until the mines die, and have a time limit on the mines.

There are a few other flags that it would be helpful to have that.

I'd like it. I'm guessing in the config, you could change the size of the mine, timer......

ahhh yes. idea! the mine flag can be set anytime. you pick it up and you can wait. it could be shot triggered, so when you shoot, it sets the mines. this in, of course, random places. and the refresh time would have to be set somewhat distant. but this is all dependent upon the server owner. if they want a large map, say "WW3" kinda map, with mines galore and total destruction. that would be cool. ahhh yes and now we can incorporate the new burning tanks and such to make it more like a world war situation. ideas abundent......

If the mine flags are flags, it involves no skill in 'dodging' them. Instead, they should be objects that blend into the ground. That way people would have to be unalert to hit one, instead of unlucky. They, of course, shouldn't show up on radar.

That would interfere with the bzflag's degree of... "complexity". Bzflag is meant to be an almost simple game thats free for all to play. There may be a future way to integrate that, but for now it is way too complex for the game's programing.

i think his idea was that the "mines" would look like normal
flags...so when your enemy sees it he thinks its normal
grabs...goes boom...he wants them to see them so they
pick them up...

First you would have to create an entirely new flag. then create a flag that when somebody picks it up they die...

And the cheating possibility goes up...


I think they should be motion censored lets say you have 20 bullets... you can drop 20 mines... if you drop 21 mines the first mine explodes. etc. etc.

That way you could have 20 mines per flag. (unless the shot limit was 3 then the mines would hardly be that bad)


Mines would be easyer and cooler than flags that blow you up.

yes, but when you drop the flag all the mines blow up and kill tanks within a certain radius (_mineKillRad 100 anyone?)
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

I dunno, I've always wondered why there isn't a "Death" flag. :p What would be really funny would be if, instead of just laying death flags, you could lay a randomized assortment of bad flags... say, around the enemy's base. :lol:

I was wondering if my idea got posted. Took me a while to find it.

My original idea about the mines was to have them be invisible. No Flags.
They would be shot triggered, say 3 or 5 per flag. You could drop them
in strategic spots ( to guard your flag ) or drop them if someone is chasing you down. They could stay in place untill all are exploded or
maybe until ctf. Maybe you could give the "shield" flag the capability
for the user to now see the mines and run over them to disarm them.
When all mines are gone then new flag appears.
I guess you could program the mines as stealth/clocking/steamroller/small/bots that don't move

The last part of my original post was more along the lines of dropping
grenades. You would drop them while in the air. When they hit the
ground they would act like mini "SW". I suppose you would kill yourself
if shot while you were on the ground.

Anyway. Sounds like someone can take the ball and run with it.
