What do you think of friendly fire?

Post by Arbiter »

Do you accept the friendly fire? Do you think it's good that people can get killed by your own bullets? Please vote if you think this is important matter.

are you trying to say "let's get rid of team killing by not letting our bullets hurt each other"??

in which case i would say "Terrible idea!!! that's part of the game. just becareful where you aim!"

sorry i might have missed the point

this seems to be a popular topic , i've seen the same excact topic idea in serveral other posts. :)

Teamkilling is a part of the game, not a vary fun part, but it is part. I the middle of war sometimes things do get confuzing and people hurt people on they're side, same with bzflag, to a much smaller scale since you respawn though. Though purposeful teamkills make the game worse, removing teamkills would change the game too much.

i vote no for teamkilling to be impossible. but i still think this:

  BOOM! too purposeful teamkillers

opps, i voted for the wrong one in the poll...

A bullet's a bullet. thats why I'm thinking of replacing all the bolts with a standard, gray bullet. maybe a flash of color showing something.

If you took away teamkilling, players could fire in any direction as fast as they could reload without worrying about hitting a teammate. This would vastly defeat the purpose of the game, and in that would remove the joy of playing it.

What if a teammate has ST. This often keeps me from blowing away stealthed teammates

I think that the bullet that we have now are okay, I don't see the interest to
change them... They represent bzflag, it like a trademark. Do you immagine
how many people will have to change their signature because the bullet are
not the same anymore :D

Arbiter : No i dont see the interest of removing the teamkilling
because it's realistic and it's part of the game. I say no :!: Let's kill our allie
like we always did in the past years

I think it is important for FF to be able to kill your teammates along with you, it help make the game more stragetic and fun,

Hannibal, are you saying that we can modify bz flag by ourself? Anyway I'm so dumb with code, I don't understand anything... :(

Question not realated to this subjet: how do you attach an image in your signature?

you can change the textures of the game, yes. the shots, the ground, the pyramid textures, the wall. nearly everything is changeable.
<path to My Bzflag Files here>/data. in that folder, you should see 2 or 3 folders, and many .png images. the client uses these images to make the game you see on the screen.

If you do change something in your bzflag code, show it to me in a private message just to look at what you changed. Perhaps I will finally understand something :)

It's not a change in the code. Doenst affect gameplay at all, just the appearance of the world on your screen.

Ok, the graphics aren't that well in this game, but that doesn't mean that you can obey all physic rules. I think friendly fire is part of a game: protect yourself and your team, attack the enemy but not your friends.

In tribes ("Tha good ol' time...") there were several servers where friendly fire wasn't a rules, you could just hit one without killing (if teammate). That was just a disaster for the gameplay.

ps: I must give in: I DO get mad at myself when tking (which would be in normal life too)

The thing that I really don't love with frendly fire is that, today, one of my
allie killed me becasue I take a geno flag that he whanted. I got first to
geno and he shot me because he was frustrated and he doesen't whant
me to have it.
