Testing a server
Testing a server
Hi,
I'm really new in map making, and I don't know how I can test my maps (made with bzedit32). I think they're not bad done (mostly the one named ''Debut CTF R-B'') and I'd like to test them to see if theyre are any problems and to set the map settings.
Thank you in advance to tell me how do I test them ))
P.S: How do I ''host'' my maps ?

To "host" your maps, they either have to be taken in by a server owner or you have to make a server.

If you have any problem, don't hesitate to ask!

I never make stupid mistakes. Only very, very clever ones.
It is not the fall that kills you. It's the sudden stop at the end.
Always remember you are unique. Just like everybody else.

I'm assuming by the fact that you're using BZEdit that you're on Windows... but it's be nice to hear it first hand, instead of assuming. So, are you running Windows, and if so, what version?

OMG!! I launch 6 clients to test out my map too!!!Ice Wewe wrote:It wont, but the number of connections does.
Anyway I test my maps using this commandline on Win:
Code: Select all
bzfs -j -set_tankSpeed 50 -world [path to world]
In order to mess with vars I recommend using a real configfile you made (there are directions on that) and just commenting out the public server lines.

Hosting is much harder than just testing maps.
To host a server you need to punch a hole thru your firewall for both TCP and UDP. (among other things)
Go to the servers forum for help on that.

Take a look at my Defender game mode concept.
Thinking is not an automatic process. A man can choose to think or to let his mind stagnate, or he can choose actively to turn against his intelligence, to evade his knowledge, to subvert his reason. If he refuses to think, he courts disaster: he cannot with impunity reject his means of perceiving reality.
