BZflag Scoring

Post by [SMS]Gortok »

Another question from me: Why is it when you die (or are killed), your score is decreased? Has there been any discussion to make it more inline with other online games, where you have a kill/death ratio, and your score isn't based on whether you die alot, but whether you kill the enemy alot?

for every kill you get, you gain a point. for every death, you lose a point. seems easy and fair enough to me.

we BZ-ers dont conform, so dont try to make us.
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

There is still a kill-death ratio. look to the left of your score. and you can change the way the scoring list is ordered in the options menu. Alphabetical, standard scoring, teamkills and normalised scoring. I'm not sure, but i think the last one might be what your looking for.... am i right?

When your score is negative, your kill ratio (normalized score) will be low too, maybe that's not what he wants :D

surely if your score is low, you don't want to be bragging it up here :)

no really. Normalised score is the kill ratio, right? Which actually is better, because it's not necessarilly the top killer who is the best player. It depends how long you have been playing ect. ect. It's like strength indexes on the stats pages. people take more notice of them, than high scores.

Bad idea, It'll confuse too many people!

Also, the worst player, with a few hours can rack-up a score, not everyone can keep out of the kill-zone!

That would be like most games I guess...but BZFlag isn't most games. We don't have/need rotating turrets, side stepping, or anything like that.

yeah, you can set in the options/gui menu settings to display 'normalised score' for the score chart. If you really, really, want you can have it sorted by callsign, Tks, TK ratio, Team or 1on1.
