MegaBlocks - A Mega-Collaborator

Post by Spazzy McGee »

The megablocks project is a "mega-collaborator" project where as many mappers as possible are invited to make a 20x20x30 block from a template.

The Project Forum can be found here:
http://hosted.rangfar.com/bzflagworld/f ... m.php?f=29

The template we are using is one very similar to the blocks seen around the edge of ^nightmare^'s new rabbit map, but we are going to fill a whole map with them, with bridges between and water at the bottom.

It will fit together like the board game 'labyrinth' - a program will randomly select 'straight', 'corner' or 'cross' style blocks and put 100 or so in a map in a grid pattern.

We aim to have as many mappers possible involved here BZEdit, 1.x, 2.0 mappers - even if you are new to mapping, come and have a go. All participants will have thier name in the final map file to show they have taken part. We hope to set a record for the most mappers taking part on a map.

Templates can be found at the project forum.

Post completed blocks here or at the project forum.

Happy Mapping,
Spazzy.

ps. special thanks to ^nightmare^ who made the original map where the idea came from, and to Ducatiwannabe for the project forum.

Just incase you are unsure, I aim to make a whole grid map of these blocks

The blocks shown here are very simple ones - i'm hoping for new and imaginative ones, prehaps including textures and the like.

cool, so we have got one going. :) submit them in this thread if you don't have an account at the mapmaking forum.

BIYA just made a good analogy: it's like lots of peices put together in a puzzle.

This is incredibly awesome! Everybody can be part of it, not just four people or something. All you mappers, take advantage of this :)

It's fun!
