You can either use TextEdit and hand-code maps (tutorial: http://bzflag.org/wiki/MapMaking ) or you can use iBZEdit. It can't do any 2.0 objects, but you can still make nice simple maps. Link: http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?p=69128#69128 It's still in development, but it works quite good. :)

if you are looking into hand coding maps in OS X and TextEdit, i sugest looking at the map Wiki for your basic syntax.

i also strongly recomend downloading other people's maps and pulling them appart to see how they made it. see the mapatorium for a bunch of maps. start small though, your better off looking at some simple box-and-pyramid maps than Louman-style epics.

and get used to using the Calculator app too.

and spend as much time as you can experimenting with stuff. I spend time experimenting with different ways of doing similar things to get the best effect.

above all be creative. people will like your maps more if it's original and there arn't hundreds of similar maps. really think about how people are going to play your map, and think about what people will do rather than what you want them to do.

and be patient! don't expect to be a louman straight off, but if you persevere and learn the ins and outs of the code, in about 2 months you can be making some good playable maps.
