bzflag.be - free emailforwarder for bzflag community
At bzflag.be you can get an free yourcallsign@bzflag.be email forwarder (to your own email[1]). Only requirement is that you have registered yourcallsign here, and that your callsign can be used for an email address (no funny chars).
The idea is to make it easier for people to communicate with eachother (e.g. to find eachother for matches). And since i got the bzflag.be domain for free, i might as well try it
Any feedback, ideas, questions can be mailed to meacan@bzflag.be (or here).
Emails will not be used for anything else, so dont expect any wonderful offers
bzflag.be is not an official part of bzflag.org, Im just a common tanker like the most of you.
[1]: You own email will not be exposed by bzflag.be nor me. It will not be sold or in other means made available to any third party.

A Meteorite
I dont know how to solve it. One way is to replace spaces with - or _, but that would create another problem: If A Meteorite was to become A_Meteorite but only at my site, what should then happen if someone registers the A_Meteorite here at bzbb.
As far as I know, spaces is accepted in email, but I have no idea how well it is supported. If you like, i can add space as a valid char, and you can try - see if it works.
RPG
Yes, you need to register (look at bzflag.be - bottom of frontpage).
You enter your real email and your callsign. An email is mailed to you to confirm the validity of that email. Once using the link in that email, you need to identify using global auth (via my.bzflag.org/weblogin). After doing this, all emails to rpg [at] bzflag.be will be forwarded to the real email you entered.

bacicly, this will give you a second name for your email.
example: if my email was "hjdjh@hotmail.com"
my other name now would be "me1@bzflag.be"
when someone sends to "me1@bzflag.be" they are really sending the message to "hjdjh@hotmail.com"
ps: that's not my real e-mail, nor is it anyone elses afaik, so don't try sending anything to it (the hotmail one)
pps: you see the "me1@bzflag.tc.ca" in my sig, it's the same thing, that forwards to my email

Exactly. And to make it easier to remember peoples email (if you sign up, even I could remember what email you would get ).it is a way to give people an email adress without having to expose my true identity?
It is not integrated with any other bz-sites at all (except that it verifies that you own the callsign you claim)
But it would be nice to have emails forward to (optional) PM message here. And perhaps some features aimed for teams. But to do this, I need more info, info, that isnt available.
But once I get more time, I'll try too look into it. But since the site were done (made a quick prototype) and it is working, i figured i might as well offer the service (to be hornest, i dont like the domain-name)

I just registered "A Meteorite" and the e-mail won't work. It says my e-mail address is "A Meteorite@bzflag.be" and it's a no-go. Maybe make it convert spaces to an underscore (_)?
EDIT: Can you also change the e-mail I regged with to "a_meteorite@bzflag.be"?

Yep, I've changed it just now

The registration of your bzflag.be email isnt finished. You should have gotten a confirmation email by the system. Inside it there is a link you need to click (check you spam-folder if you cant find it). Onceyou've finished the process, you can find your callsign at http://bzflag.be/users.php

on users.php you should make a line break after each name, so people can see them more organized
also on the registration form, maybe use
so that spaces are automatically turned to underscores, or even just remove the spaces.
also on the registration form, maybe use
Code: Select all
str_replace(" ","_",$str);

Is 3 columns good enough?
Im not too happy about doing the space-to-something else replacement, because it can be abused to hijack other accounts. I need to figure out how to avoid this. This is the only reason why I just dont a simple replace.

Are you sure? My mailserver says that it have delivered mails to your real email at: Feb 14 00:18:23 , Feb 14 00:45:24 and Feb 14 01:30:38 (all CET). Check you spam folder etc to make sure.

Sounds odd if gmail is down. But check spamfolder etc. If it isnt there, would you mind to start over? If it still dosnt work, let me know.

three collumns is good, just as long as its not some huuuuge list with no end.
also im not sure the people here are crappy enough to go and hijack accounts like that. but spaces should be converted to something, because "my name is tim@bzflag.be" would not go over too well with many mail servers.

Changes
Some changes:
- Spaces and other "funny" characters are handled. So everyone should be able to get an email now (unless two callsigns "converts" to the same email)
- Added "delete", so you can remove the email again
- Added clear-text userlist (to give an easy way of parsing the list)
Spazzy Mcgee
As stated above, it should handle spaces now. So if you restart the registration process and try again, it outta work.
