Should "FreeForAll" change to "DeathMatch&quo

Anyone that ever played any other game will have thought to themselves that FFA is just a Death Match.
It's not Free For All really, because unless you are a rogue, you're on a team. Team Free For All would be more suited, but Death Match is even better.

This topic is a chance for you to have your say.
Of course, if you think that "death" is a terrible word to use in this game, please (accept my apology for using it here, and) tell us so in a reply.
Though, if you think "death" is such a bad word, the whole game might have to be changed so that it doesn't say you were "killed" by someone, or that you "shot" someone else, etc.

I think "Combat" would be a better name than deathmatch... but deathmatch would be better than FFA at least. FFA is a very genric term that should be applied to all game modes:

team CTF (normal) vs FFA-CTF (aka HTF)
FFA rabbit (the way it is now) vs team rabbit (nonexistant)
team combat vs FFA combat (all rogue)

you get the idea.

I agree with L4m3r. "Combat" sounds a lot more warfare/tank-ish and cooler. Remember that "BZFlag Violence?" thread? Yea. There you go.

The problem with 'Death Match' is that it implies a single match. Free Battle may be a better description.

That portion of the game has come to be known by FFA.
It has stayed that way for as long as I can remember, and It's worked great so far. Why change now?

Some good suggestions here, and Teppic made a nice point.
"Free Battle" however, implies the same as FFA - no teams.
Which is why I have created the poll in the first place.

As for "Combat" - we are in "combat" anytime we play bzflag, whatever game type - right? :/

Yes, but FFA is also the most general, basic form of the game.

Other games have done it, too. IIRC Perfect Dark called it "combat".

because it's realy "team FFA", and I"m adding a FFA mode that is teamless, where color is just used for personal prefrence.

in the 2.1.x version old FFA is now "team free-for-all" and there is a new "Open Free-for-All" mode ( -offa )
