How much do you use Identify on other tanks?

Post by GMMan »

Do you ever use Identify on other tanks? I do lots, as GM is like my career. ID is quite useful especially when you're tracking someone and perhaps want to know how he would try to kill you.
I haven't touched BZFlag for years, but maybe sometime I'll make a comeback.

Right clicking gives my hand something to do, as I just cannot sit still. I can concentrate, but my fingers, toes, feet, something must be moving.

Plus, its information that does help me play. I like to know the relative skill level of a player I'm attacking, and I have gotten to know those I should be wary of, especially with certain flags.
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

I do it all the time. This is very useful for determining how much lag you will need to account for (you'll need to be familiar with this ahead of time), and what flag you will have to defend against.

Vital, to know who I'm battling with. and what level of play to use against them, or if I should run and hide

You should always identify your enemy, always. I hate people that jump right into a geno, and BOOM. You're dead because they didn't identify. Yep, identifying is very important for BZFlag.

Identifying is essential to the game of BZFlag. I know it has saved me from more than one SW. However, this technique is only as good as the player using it. One of the reasons I say this is because though it may be uncommon, killing a team mate with GM is quite easy to do. And with multiple tanks in your view, it becomes hard to identify (or lock on to) the right tank.

Yeah. It's annoying. I once killed a teammate with GM. I also once accidentally tried to kill a teammate with GM, but luckily it got blocked by a pyrimid.

I use it a bunch, but unfortunately, I often forget to when charging towards people, and I end up getting shocked severly. There's been a couple of people who've been known to sit inside the hollow box on my server with shockwave, and as people pass by, they release the shock within them. Hehe...
And I've been known to run towards them, not paying attention to what flag they have.

Ck's house of tricks would be the server I'm talking about, though it's not reliably up at the moment, due to various troubles with the school network. Hopefully, though, Tadd may help me host a couple of servers.

I always identify when I see that the enemy has a flag. I don't like charging towards someone who has a SW.

It's also good for spotting the lonely guy with a laser on servers like Silvercat rotation. You know where to find them.

Just my two cents.

Yeah so I just shoot at anyone because I'm fearless  . Actually I do identify alot but dont pay attention to it because my finger just clicks it so much because its also my respawn button and when I respawn I just click it furiously.
