Phantom Zone flag
Phantom Zone flag
I like the idea of phantom zone but all its really good for is hideing in rabbit hunts. Can some one tell me of any time that this flag is at all usefull?

Camping near a teleporter can prove useful. When your enemy approaches, spring out from the other side of the teleporter and shoot them. Remember that Phantom Zone does not make you completely invincible, as you can be destroyed by Super Bullet, Shock Wave, and other zoned tanks.

That happened to me quite often on at a few arenas. Haven't seen it in action for a while though.A Vicious Muffin wrote:Has anyone ever met another zoned tank with them?
The before mentioned areans were actually quite good for catching people out near the TPs. The thing is, most of the popular arenas currently in operation are not designed for good PZ action.I don't think that this flag is that much great, since you can't kill anyone unless they're around your teleporter, and plus sw and sb will be looking for you since you can't kill them.
Sure, SW and SB were still dangers, but if there is ever any camping that is virtually invunerable from attack, then that camping is not a good thing for the game at all.
"Hell, I'll kill a man in a fair fight, or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman, or if I'm gettin paid; mostly only when I'm gettin paid. But eating people alive, when does that get fun?"

Yea, thats the problem with that rexflex. Arenas are not designed for pz action. Plus, the only other thing you can do with pz is create a distraction on the radar for about 5 seconds on an experienced player, however more on a noob. This might be good for your team, but wouldn't it be kind of boring to help out your team in a whole playing time?

Did somebody say A Distraction?!? Anyway, look at Phantom Zone this way: It was intended to make you a distraction for about five seconds. If you don't want to be a distraction, then you drop it. But if you do want to be a distraction, then there is no better flag to become one, except Thief maybe.Plus, the only other thing you can do with pz is create a distraction on the radar for about 5 seconds.

another use I've found with it is while you are zoned, you can use it to "distract" someone trying to lock their gm's onto someone else.
Get the PZ flag, get zoned, and put yourself between the player with a gm flag and whom ever they are trying to lock onto.
Not very useful, but it will irritate the person holding the gm flag and make it so they can't score as quickly as they would otherwise.
Might be looked at as a better option for one teammate trying to protect their other teammates.
2 cents worth

didn't suggest to be a teammate all the time.A Vicious Muffin wrote:Goody idea, but whats the fun of being a TEAMMATE all the time? I'll admit, there's no "I" in bzflag, but whats so great about just driving around trying to save other ppl? Not only that, but you have to make sure for that he doesn't lock onto your teamate anyways.
didn't say it was "great" driving around trying save people.
don't care if it does lock onto a teammate of mine - since I usually play rogue anyway.
original op wanted to know what to use the PZ flag for. I just gave another suggestion.
and with the score I can usually obtain, it's nice to be able to get zoned (amongst other things) and relax and just go mess with a gm once in awhile.
